Dry fats
Dry Fats
Fats are important ingredients in animal feed. They play an important role in feeding because they increase the energy density of the feed; fats contain 2.3 times more energy than carbohydrates. Dry fats are stable on storage and are easy to handle. The special properties of our dry fats allows their use in energy-rich rations for high-yielding cows. Dry fats can also be beneficial for other species than ruminants, when liquid oils are not an available option.
Rumen-stable dry fats
Marvesa’s sister company Elbe Fetthandel offers fractionated fats of the latest generation, the melting point of which has been raised to min. 53 °C without hardening. These fats are rumen-stable and are absorbed only in the small intestine, the actual place of fat digestion. In contrast to hardened fats that contain approximately 50% of indigestive stearic acid (C18:0), the percentage of stearic acid in our product is reduced to below 10%. Hardening-induced trans-fatty acids and catalyst residues (nickel) are no longer relevant for fats of the latest generation either.
Rumen-protected dry fats
Alternatively, fats can also be made rumen-protected. Protection within the rumen is ensured by the fact that saponified fats can be split and made absorbent only under acidic conditions, which ensures release of the fatty acids in the abomasum. In comparison to other dry fats, the high percentage of easily digestible oleic acid and linoleic acid should be noted.
